current build: a 1974 shortwave radio, recapped, with a homebrew loop antenna wound around a picture frame. goal is a quiet receive on the 49m band from the kitchen table without a ground wire out the window.

status   : receives, hums, drifts warm

what works: audio stage, tuning, band switch. what does not: the 60hz hum under strong stations, and the dial slipping half a khz when the room warms up.
